Is there anything that I can do to prevent my premium from increasing? There are many actions with little or no cost that can be done. Tip 23 – Protect yourself from theft Unfortunately I have to tell you that the numbers of incidents involving theft this Christmas is exceeding previous years. Most burglaries, (forced entries), are very noticeably through the roof. Please have your alarms checked to ensure that your protection for entry through your roof is of the highest possible standard. For example do you have PIR, (Passive Infra Red), beams in place in your attic? Is access to your roof adequately protected? Cash robberies are also on the increase. Are you keeping the amounts of cash in your tills to an absolute minimum? Remember as I have told you several times before – train your staff – NO HEROICS! We have a recent incident where a young well-meaning staff member seeing his employer give chase to 2 robbers, being somewhat more fit than his boss and was badly beaten by them when he caught up. You must accept as an employer that you have a responsibility to protect your employees by instructing them not to endanger themselves and others by taking any such action!
