Tip 26 – Passive Infrared Sensors We have had two incidents involving forced entry, (through the roof again), where the alarm did not activate. In both cases alarms were set after closure. In both cases PIR, (Passive Infrared), Sensors, were fitted including within the attic! In both cases the cigarette cabinets were forced open and the entire contents stolen. In both cases PIR Sensors were not located in a position that would detect someone standing right beside the cigarette cabinets. Why then were the sensors not fitted somewhere that is certain to detect a person anywhere near the highest theft target in the shop? What can I say? How do the burglars know the exact position of the sensors? Please do yourself a favor and ask your alarm contractor to review your protections.
