Shop Tip No 31

Is there anything that I can do to prevent my premium from increasing?
There are many actions with little or no cost that can be done.

Tip 31 – Reminding you why we are mailing

Every fortnight since January of 2014 we have been sending you emails. By now you will know that, (as promised), this is not a sales campaign. We have been absolutely delighted with the response from a great number of you but I must confess a little disappointed when I speak with some of you who say that they “don’t have time to read them.”

Insurance premiums are once again on the increase and the level of this increase is dramatic. It is a common perception that insurers makes lots of profit and never lose. Wrong! It is a fact that insurers frequently pay out more in claims and other costs than they take in from premium income.

With a population in Ireland of just under 4.6 million versus say the United Kingdom’s 64.1, or to put it another way 67 people per square kilometer in Ireland versus 265 in the UK, we simply have way less contributors to fund the claims!

One might say that our own business partner, (Zurich Insurance), have taken a leap of faith by recognizing our efforts to reduce claims through advising retailers of steps they can take to genuinely improve their own protection. They have modified their premium increase to a level far below what was originally considered necessary. They have seen improvements resulting from your responses to the advice given.

My message to you today is please keep reading and acting.

Remember…….
Are my current physical protections good enough to prevent forced entry?
Are there enough/any PIR beams in my attic?
Is my door mat appropriate to dry customers’ feet?
Do I have a “PLEASE WIPE YOUR FEET” sign?
Is my CCTV system of adequate quality to provide recordings good enough to defend slip claims?

Always remember – call us to discuss any/every incident. We will advise and guide you.
