Shop Tip No 48

Is there anything that I can do to prevent my premium from increasing? There are many actions with little or no cost that can be done. Tip 48 – Statutory Inspections – your legal duty We are currently investigating the need to bring to your attention your legal duties relating to plant and equipment for which you are required to have periodic inspection by a suitably qualified Engineer. Such equipment includes Coffee Barista’s, (with steam pressure boilers), Passenger and Goods Lifts, Walk-in Freezers, Fork Lift Trucks and vehicles with lifting devices. You need to be aware that your Liability covers under your policies would exclude injury and/or damage cause by and such equipment where you do not have an Engineering Inspection contract in place. One frightening example for concern is the coffee barista’s. Records of incidents show the aftermath of exploding boilers which resemble nothing short of a bomb having exploded with flying shrapnel over a wide area. A number of you will have received contact from me seeking assistance in compiling information. I now appeal to you all to consider if you have any such equipment and to contact me to discuss and address your needs. Always remember – call us to discuss any/every incident. We will advise and guide you.
