We have taken the decision to leave our Tip for this week to one side on the occasion of one of our valued Clients; Ronan & Gillian Treacy, (Gala, Portarlington) who were recently dealt a horrific tragedy. We spoke with Padraig Briody, (Chairman of the Ciaran Treacy Family Support Fund and family friend), and he advised as follows: On the evening of Thursday 17th April 2014, a car crash took place just outside the town of Portarlington, Co. Laois which tragically resulted in the death of little Ciarán Treacy (Age 4). Ciarán’s mum Gillian was severely injured in the crash and has been through multiple surgeries since the accident. . “From the chest down, if it wasn’t broken it was either battered or bruised,” explained Gillian’s husband Ronan. (Link re Media report of accident; http://bit.ly/CTFSF     ) On top of the pain of losing a child, the Treacys are now facing mounting medical bills to deal with Gillians ongoing medical care and rehabilitation, the loss of an income stream and costs associated with adapting their home for Gillian’s medium term wheelchair access & mobility needs. Portarlington & Stradbally, (Gillian is originally from Stradbally (nee Ryan), communities felt a surge of support to want to do something for the Treacy family. A committee was formed; Ciaran Treacy Family Support Fund. We adopted the image of Ciaran RIP chasing bubbles, (a picture taken at a wedding weeks before his tragic death), and our logo reads…”Bubbles for Ciaran”. An agreed number of  fundraisers have been scheduled over the next 8 weeks with our centre piece on the 8th August a Golf Classic at Portarlington Golf Club followed by an Auction that evening in Portarlington Town. On this date of 8th August our fundraising efforts will be completed.
